Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B. A. M. S.) provides basic education in the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional ayurveda. It prepares students of profound scholarship in the science of Ayurveda having basic and fundamental knowledge in different subjects of Ayurveda backed up by extensive practical training.

The program enables a student to become an efficient teacher, a research scholar and a competent Ayurvedic physician and surgeon to be able to contribute his mite in the medical and health services.

The Under-graduate Degree Course, also known as Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is of 5½ years duration (4½ years of the main course and 1 year internship). The main course is divided into 3 Professional Courses of 1 years duration each & the final or fourth Professional course is of 1.5 years. course.

Eligibility (Qualification for Admission):

For B.A.M.S. Progarm: Minimum qualification of these courses is 10+2 or its equivalent with Science (PCB/PCM) from a recognized board/University. Student must have passed individually in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English & with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together (45% for SC/ST students). Direct admission on the basis of merit and interview is also possible.

Age: Candidate must have attain minimum 17 years of age as on 31st December of the responding year.

The annual admission capacity to BAMS course varies upon the institutions infrastructure, faculty & teaching hospital facility which is approved by CCIM & Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi. 

Admission guidance notification is made on all India level and after few private ayurvedic colleges also conducts an Entrance Test, candidates standing in the highest merits are admitted in the respective Institute.
